ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate in Minimum Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Metallurgy degree
EXPERIENCE & EXPOSURE:
. 03 - 05 years’ experience in Industrial Chemical or Hydrometallurgical Plant design and/or operations
Experience in Chemical industry operations especially relating to industrial chemistry.
Practical experience in start-up operations.
Environmental aspects of industrial plant operation, treatment and disposal of chemical tailings and other waste products.
Risk analysis and Quality control.
Application of computer simulation software for industrial chemistry and/or hydrometallurgy.
Management of engineering contractors and consulting companies.
Experience in development and implementation of ISO systems at operating plants
The position will also require extensive travel to the planned plant sites and test sites . The candidate should be self-starter, flexible, innovative, resilient, with strong interpersonal skills, and, an overall team player. He must possess excellent communication skills.
Candidate is required to play a lead role in promoting a strong Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) culture at the station.
working closely with process chemists and control engineers to ensure the process plant is set up to provide maximum output levels and efficient running of the production facility
designing plant and equipment configuration so that they can be readily adapted to suit the product range and the process technologies involved, taking environmental and economic aspects into account
setting up scale-up and scale-down processes including appropriate changes to equipment design and configuration
assessing options for plant expansion or reconfiguration by developing and testing process simulation models
designing, installing and commissioning new production plants, including monitoring developments and troubleshooting
optimising production by analysing processes and compiling de-bottleneck studies
applying new technologies
researching new products from trial through to commercialisation and improving product lines
ensuring that potential safety issues related to the project operator, the environment, the process and the product are considered at all stages.
Support and practice the Health and safety practices
Ability in project accountability and cost management
Strong team player with other technical and non-technical people
A practical and hands-on chemical engineer or hydro metallurgist
Has a methodical approach to work practices with strong emphasis on quality
Must be a strong team player and an excellent problem solver
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
